CareCredit or Cherry: which should you choose?
These are different kinds of product. CareCredit is a revolving healthcare credit card: a patient who already has one can use it on the spot, and short promotions are deferred interest, meaning interest is charged back to the purchase date at the standard APR if the balance is not cleared in time. Cherry is a point-of-sale installment plan with a fixed schedule, approved with a soft credit check.
For the practice, both pay up front and carry the repayment risk. CareCredit pays within two business days; Cherry within two to three. Neither publishes its merchant fee schedule, so compare written quotes at the promotion lengths you plan to offer.
Most practices do not choose one. They keep CareCredit for patients who carry the card and add Cherry for patients who are declined or who want a fixed plan. Cherry advertises an approval rate of about 90%; CareCredit does not publish one. See the three-way guide: CareCredit vs Cherry vs Sunbit.
