VideaAI review: our verdict
By the Denture-ID Research Desk · updated Sep 30, 2026 · based on vendor documentation, published pricing and public user reviews; not hands-on tested
Reviewed by Dr. Mohammed Akour, PhD, Professor of Software Engineering & Academic Reviewer · Editorial Board
Videa has the broadest single FDA clearance we have read in dental radiograph AI, and the only one of the three leaders that starts at age 3. It is the platform of choice at several very large dental groups.
For an individual buyer the difficulty is the absence of public information: no price, no independent reviews and no published integration list. It deserves a place in any evaluation, particularly for practices with many pediatric patients, but you will need to run that evaluation yourself.
Strengths
- FDA clearance K232384 covers bitewing, periapical and panoramic radiographs for patients 3 years and older
- One clearance lists ten suspected findings plus existing treatments and normal anatomy
- Customer list includes several of the largest US dental groups
- Platform extends to voice notes, voice perio, claim checks and insurance verification
Watch-outs
- No public pricing
- We found no public user reviews on the major directories
- Integrations with imaging and practice management systems are not listed publicly
- Performance claims on the website are the vendor's own
What Videa is
Videa (VideaHealth, Inc., Boston) makes AI that reads dental radiographs and highlights suspected findings for the clinician. The company says more than 90,000 clinicians use it and names customers including Heartland Dental, Aspen Dental, MB2 Dental, Dentalcorp and 123Dentist.
Beyond radiograph analysis (Clinical Assist), the product line now includes Voice Notes and Voice Perio for documentation, dashboards and insights, Clean Claims and AutoVerify for insurance.
FDA clearance: what it covers
We read the clearance letter for Videa Dental Assist, K232384, dated December 15, 2023. It describes a computer-assisted detection device for bitewing, periapical and panoramic radiographs from patients aged 3 years or older.
- Suspected findings: caries, attrition, broken or chipped tooth, restorative imperfections, pulp stones, dens invaginatus, periapical radiolucency, widened periodontal ligament, furcation and calculus.
- Existing treatment: crowns, fillings, bridges, posts, root canals, implants and orthodontic appliances.
- Normal anatomy: including the mandibular canal, maxillary sinus, and developing, erupting and impacted teeth.
The company describes this as more than 30 algorithms. The clearance covers 2D images; it does not mention CBCT.
Where Videa is strong
- Pediatric coverage. Cleared from age 3, where the Pearl clearances we read start at 12 or 19.
- Breadth in one clearance. Findings, prior treatment and anatomy across three image types.
- Adoption by large groups. The customer list suggests it scales operationally.
- Adjacent tools. Documentation and insurance products that use the same data.
Where it falls short
- No price and no public reviews. We could not find user reviews on Capterra or G2 to summarize.
- Integrations not published. Ask which imaging software and practice management systems are supported.
- Vendor statistics. Figures such as a 119% increase in caries detection are Videa's own and depend on the baseline.
- Group orientation. Sales and onboarding are built around DSOs; a solo practice should ask about minimums.
Videa alternatives to compare
- Pearl Second Opinion, with a listed price and many imaging integrations.
- Overjet, with CBCT analysis and insurer-facing tools: Overjet vs Pearl.
All tools: AI dental X-ray analysis ranking. Background: what FDA 510(k) clearance means.
Bottom line
If you see many children or run a group, put Videa on the shortlist and ask for a pilot on your own images. If you are a single general practice that wants to start quickly, Pearl publishes more of what you need to decide.
