Overjet

Overjet is one of the two best-known names in dental X-ray AI, and the one most oriented toward groups and insurers. It has a long list of FDA clearances and has expanded from radiograph analysis into imaging software, voice documentation and revenue-cycle tools.

What it lacks is public evidence from ordinary users: there are almost no reviews to read. List prices per location appear only on a sales page. Treat a purchase as an evaluation project: run it on your own radiographs, ask for the clearance documents and get references from practices like yours.

What Overjet is

Overjet, based in Boston and founded in 2018, makes software that analyses dental radiographs with AI. Its products today are Vision AI for X-ray analysis, IRIS imaging software, a Voice AI suite for documentation, and revenue-cycle tools covering insurance verification, pre-treatment estimates and claims. The company says its verification connects to more than 1,000 payers.

The vendor's site names large groups among its customers, and it sells to insurers as well as providers, which is why its findings are designed to support claims.

FDA clearances: what they cover

“FDA cleared” always applies to a specific indication. From the clearance letters and Overjet's announcements:

• Overjet Caries Assist, K212519, cleared May 10, 2022: aids detection and segmentation of caries on bitewing radiographs.
• Overjet CBCT Assist, announced December 2025 as the company's tenth clearance: identifies and measures structures on 3D scans, including periodontal bone levels and distances from teeth to the sinus and nerve canal.
• Overjet Iris Intelligent Imaging System, K253930, cleared April 10, 2026: imaging software that includes indicators of radiograph quality.

Where Overjet is strong

• Regulatory depth. Ten clearances by the vendor's count, across 2D and 3D imaging.
• Quantification. Findings are outlined and measured on the image, which supports both clinical decisions and patient explanations.
• Group features. Consistent criteria across providers and locations are the main reason DSOs adopt radiograph AI.
• Insurance link. Verification, estimates and claim support from the same vendor.

Where it falls short

• Price. $595 a month per location for Vision AI plus $1,500 to implement, listed on a DSO sales page rather than a public pricing page. Contract term not stated.
• Thin public feedback. We found only isolated reviews on the major directories, too few to summarize.
• Integration detail. The website does not list supported practice management and imaging systems; confirm yours before a trial.
• AI is an aid. Radiograph AI produces false positives and misses. The dentist remains responsible for the diagnosis.

How to evaluate it

1. Run a pilot on your own recent radiographs and have your dentists compare its findings with their charting.
2. Ask which findings are FDA cleared for which image types and ages.
3. Confirm integration with your imaging software and practice management system, and where annotated images are stored.
4. Ask for the price per location, contract term and what happens to your images if you leave.

Bottom line

Overjet is a credible, well-cleared platform that suits organizations able to run a proper evaluation. A solo practice can use it too, but should compare the $595 per location list price with Pearl and other radiograph AI.
