An integration can be read-only or two-way. A read-only tool pulls the schedule or patient list out of the PMS. A tool with write-back also puts data in: an online booking lands in the appointment book, a verified benefit fills the insurance plan, a payment posts to the ledger, a signed form attaches to the chart.
Without write-back, staff retype results by hand, which removes most of the time saved. “Integrates with your PMS” on a vendor site does not say which kind it is, so ask to see the data arrive in your system.
