The Medit i900 delivers most of what practices want from a premium scanner at a mid-range price, with no subscription. It is remarkably light, its software is free, and scans export in open formats to any lab or aligner provider.
It lacks the diagnostic extras of TRIOS 6 and iTero Lumina Pro, and the three-version lineup takes some sorting out. For practices that mainly need accurate impressions, it is hard to beat on five-year cost.

What the Medit i900 is
The i900 is Medit's top intraoral scanner. The wired model weighs 165 g with its tip, which Medit says is 33% lighter than its predecessor, and is 35 mm in diameter. It uses a third-generation optical engine with 10-bit imaging, a wider field of view, better scanning of metal surfaces, anti-fog air flow and UV-C disinfection. Tips come in three sizes and are rated for 150 autoclave cycles.
The lineup has three versions: i900 with a touch band, i900 classic with buttons, and the wireless i900 Mobility, which weighs 319 g with tip and battery. Realtime Intelligence, which checks scan data and preparations as you scan, is included.

Where the Medit i900 is strong
- Cost of ownership. No subscription and free software.
- Weight. The wired i900 is among the lightest wands available.
- Openness. STL, PLY and OBJ export to any lab, aligner company or CAD system.
- Scan assistance. Realtime Intelligence included.
- Accident cover. The Medit Shield program covers drops.
Where it falls short
- No diagnostic imaging comparable to NIRI or hyperspectral capture.
- Support depends on the dealer. Training and service vary; ask what is included.
- Lineup confusion. Three versions with different controls, weights and prices.
