Bola AI is the specialist in voice charting. It started with perio charting by voice, the task that most often needs a second person in the operatory, and has added restorative charting and an AI scribe. It writes into the main dental systems and, by its own figures, has the largest user base in this niche.
Two things to weigh: there is no public price or independent review, and several practice management systems now include voice perio themselves. Check what you already have before buying another tool.

What Bola AI is
Bola AI sells three voice products for dental exams:
- Voice Perio: hands-free periodontal charting, so a hygienist can chart alone.
- Voice Restorative: restorative charting completed, according to Bola, in under two minutes.
- AI Scribe: clinical notes in a consistent format for records and claims.
Bola says more than 10,000 dentists and hygienists use it and that it has completed 7 million exams and more than 3 million charts. It has published a case study with Heartland Dental reporting a 9x return; these are the vendor's figures.
Integration, privacy and pricing
Bola lists integrations with Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Curve Dental and Fuse, and our data records note write-back to Dentrix, Eaglesoft and Open Dental. It states HIPAA compliance, offers a business associate agreement and supplies patient consent forms. Its website does not state how long audio is kept; ask.
