Curve Dental is the established choice among cloud-native systems. It has been browser-based for two decades, serves more than 6,000 practice locations by its own count, and has converted thousands of offices from Dentrix and Eaglesoft. Users rate its ease of use and support well.

What Curve Dental is

Curve Dental is practice management software that runs in a web browser. It covers scheduling, charting and perio charting, treatment planning, insurance eligibility and claims, ERA posting, e-prescribing, imaging and reporting. The company is based in Alpharetta, Georgia and says it has more than 100,000 active users at over 6,000 practice locations in the United States and Canada.

Beyond the core system, Curve sells its own patient engagement suite (Curve GRO), payment processing (Curve Pay) and ambient AI for clinical notes. Buying them from the same vendor means one login and one support line, at the cost of less choice than an open ecosystem gives you.

Pricing: quote-only

Curve's pricing page has no figures; we checked it on September 30, 2026. Pricing is a monthly subscription quoted by the sales team, and it varies with the modules you choose.

Because there is no server, the quote should be compared with the full cost of a server system, not just its license fee. Ask specifically whether these are included: imaging and image storage, two-way texting and reminders, eligibility checks, e-prescribing, data conversion and training.

Where Curve is strong

• Maturity in the cloud. Many cloud systems are recent. Curve has run this way since 2004, so its uptime, security practices and conversion process have had time to settle.
• Conversions. Curve publishes its conversion counts: more than 7,500 in total from over 90 systems, including 2,434 from Dentrix, 2,348 from Eaglesoft and 474 from Open Dental. Patient records, documents, X-rays and images are migrated, and the final stage typically takes three business days.
• Ease of use and support. Users give it 4.4 for ease of use and 4.5 for customer service on Capterra. Curve says support is US-based and available around the clock.
• Integrations. 26 products in our database list Curve as a supported system. That is well behind the big server systems but ahead of most cloud competitors.
• Features. We confirmed real-time eligibility, ERA auto-posting, e-prescribing, voice perio charting, custom reporting and multi-location support in vendor documentation.

Where it falls short

• Billing and ledger. This is the most frequent complaint: reviewers find the billing module confusing and insurance estimates not always accurate.
• Imaging. Users report limits in how images are organized and occasional problems with specific sensors. Confirm that your sensors, pano and any CBCT work before you commit.
• Reporting. Reports are described as slow or hard to customize. If you rely on particular reports, ask to see them built on sample data.
• Less flexibility. Some reviewers want more customization and note that product changes are applied to everyone with no option to revert.
• Internet dependence. As with any cloud system, an outage stops work. Plan a backup connection.
