Oryx

Oryx is the most transparent of the newer cloud systems on price and contract terms, and the one with the clearest clinical point of view. It was founded by a practicing dentist, its exam workflow follows the Kois Center protocol, and every plan is priced on the website.

What it lacks is a track record you can read. There are 30 reviews on G2 and none on Capterra, so references from practices like yours matter more here than with older systems.

What Oryx is

Oryx is a cloud practice management system founded by Dr. Rania Saleh, a practicing dentist. It covers charting, scheduling, billing, claims, patient messaging and imaging in one browser-based product for the United States and Canada.

Its distinguishing feature is the clinical side. The examination and risk-assessment workflow is endorsed by Dr. John Kois of the Kois Center, and Oryx partners with the Academy of General Dentistry. The company states that about 2,000 practices and 15,000 clinicians use it. These are the vendor's figures.

Pricing

We read Oryx's pricing page on September 30, 2026.

Each plan includes up to two providers. Terms worth knowing:

• Contract. Twelve months, then month to month.
• Deferred start. New customers begin paying three months after signup.
• Startup offer. A new solo practice with no patients pays $0 a month for Pro or Automate, with a $1 setup fee, until 200 patients or 12 months. Oryx AI is $400 a month under the offer.
• Conversion. Setup, data-conversion and image-conversion fees apply to existing practices and are not listed.

At list price, 36 months of Oryx Pro for two providers is $23,400, and Oryx AI is $50,364. A four-provider office on Pro pays $850 a month. How this compares with other systems: dental software cost.

Where Oryx is strong

• Price transparency. Plans, provider fees and contract length are public. Among cloud systems that is unusual.
• Clinical workflow. A systematic exam and risk assessment built into charting, rather than added as a template.
• Imaging inside the product. Native imaging with no separate imaging licence, and FDA-cleared AI detection from Pearl or Overjet.
• Startup terms. A new office can run on it at no monthly cost while it builds a patient base.
• Services included. Onboarding, training, support and the Oryx Academy are part of each plan.
• Coverage. We confirmed 11 of the 14 practice management capabilities we track, including real-time eligibility, electronic claims and remittance posting.

Where it falls short

• Thin public feedback. The G2 rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 30 reviews. Capterra showed no reviews on September 30, 2026. That is too little to identify recurring problems.
• Features gated by plan. E-prescribing and all AI charting sit in the top plan, more than twice the price of Pro.
• Conversion costs. The pricing page says migration is included in every plan and also that conversion fees apply to existing practices. Ask which applies to you and get a figure.
• Integrations. Beyond Pearl, Overjet and its own payments, we could not confirm integrations with third-party patient communication or analytics tools.
• Support hours. Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm Central. No weekend line is listed.

Bottom line

Oryx deserves a demo from any startup and from dentists who care about a structured clinical exam. The pricing is clear and the exit terms after year one are fair. Because public reviews are scarce, ask for two or three reference practices of your size, and have the conversion fee quoted before you sign.
